At South Oakville Hearing and Audiology Clinic we are capable of performing Industrial Hearing Screenings and implementing hearing loss prevention programs. A hearing loss prevention program HLPP is required to alert workers to the potential hazards of overexposure to noise in the workplace. The program should be implemented when employees are exposed to a noise level at or above 85 dBA. Setting up aneffective HLPP involves the following:
- Identifying areas/tasks where high noise levels exist
- Assessing the levels to which workers are exposed
- Implementing control measures to reduce workers’ exposure to noise
The Joint Health and Safety Committee or Representative should be consulted in the implementation of the HLPP. Before instituting the program, it is important that employees are involved in the program development and their input is required.
