There are many different styles of hearing aids and the kind that you decide on will depend on a few factors. South Oakville Hearing and Audiology Clinic will help you to select the hearing aid style that is right for your personal needs. We will consider the following when selecting a style:

  • Severity of hearing loss
  • Ear canal shape and size
  • Ability to use your hands to insert the hearing aid and take it out
  • Personal preference and budget

Invisible In the Canal (IIC) 

Suitable for first-time and experienced hearing aid users with a mild to moderate hearing loss, who are looking for the ultimate discrete hearing solution. This style sits deepest within the ear canal so it is not visible at all. The client will need excellent manual abilities in order to insert and remove the tiny battery that this hearing aid requires.

Completely In the Canal (CIC)

Suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss. This tiny custom style rests deep in the ear canal. The client will need excellent manual abilities in order to insert and remove the tiny battery that this hearing aid requires.

In The Canal (ITC)
Suitable for mild to moderately sever hearing loss. This style rests in the ear canal.
In The Ear (ITE)
Suitable for mild to severe hearing loss. This style fills the concha of the ear.
Receiver In The Ear (DesignerRITE)
Suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss. The subtle, petal-shaped shell rests in shadow at the top of your ear and has a invisible sound tube for a discreet, non traditional hearing device.
Mini Receiver In The Ear (MiniRITE)
Suitable for mild to severe hearing loss. A very small attractive RITE style that fits discreetly behind the ear transmitting sound via a thin tube.
Mini Behind The Ear (MiniBTE)
Suitable for moderate to severe hearing loss. Available in both thin tube and hook solution. Fully wireless and delivers superb sound quality.
Receiver In The Ear (RITE)
Suitable for mild to severe hearing loss. Cosmetically more discreet than traditional behind the ear models and this style rests behind the ear and transmits sound via a thin tube.
Behind The Ear(BTE)

Suitable for mild to profound hearing loss. Available in both thin tube and hook solution, this style rests behind the ear and transmits sound to the ear via a tube.
